Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we use your company for this service?

We have been working in the professional audio/video business for 16 years. We operate a full-service project studio utilizing professional hardware and software. We have produced audio and video projects for everything from television advertising to custom corporate presentations. We understand quality audio/video and bring our expertise to every project we do. Read more here.

How long will my order take ?
Most orders just take a couple of days. However, this can vary based on the work load in the studio and the size of your order. We can rush orders if needed. If you need your project back by a certain date, please call us to discuss.

Your company name is Thick and Mystic Media? What is that?
Thick and Mystic Media is our official company name. VideoMover is a service offered by our company. Thick and Mystic Media does audio and video production, multimedia programming, web design, graphic design and more. Thick and Mystic was established in 1994 as a publishing company when we recorded music for some TV movies. It grew from there. And now AudioMover and VideoMover are the parts of the company that handles the analog to digital media transfers. Click here to learn more about Thick and Mystic.

Is there a guarantee?

We put most, but not all, of the DVDs we burn into a standard player just to make sure it works. We do not listen to every CD or watch every DVD. If the DVD did not burn correctly you will be the first to find out. We keep your video on a hard drive for approximately 1 month. If you notice any problems with the DVD please contact us during that period and we will burn a new copy. We are not responsible to replace DVDs that don’t work due to negligence on the part of the customer.

Does the price listed include the entire tape ?
VHS tapes can range from 2 - 8 hours in length. As a result we cannot offer a standard price for them. This is also true for all Video8 formats. As a result we have to charge for every 2 hours of digitizing. If you need to wait to find out how much it will cost after the project is complete, that is fine. Just leave the totals blank on the order form.

What type of label do you put on the CD or DVD?

We use a thermal printer to print the title information directly on the disk it self. If you don't give us specific instructions we will use whatever is written on the item itself. If there is nothing on the item we will number it and use that number as the label. We do NOT use sticker labels. Why? Have you ever seen a piece of tape after about 10-15 years? it turns yellow and falls off! This will likely be the fate of most DVD sticker labels. We want your disk to last as long as you do so we use a higher quality solution.

Your DVD will come with a case with various pictures from the video printed on it.

Will the DVD you send me work in all DVD players?
Some DVD players don't play DVD-Rs consistently. Not all DVD-Rs are created equal! Over the years we have experimented with many brands and types of DVD-Rs and we have settled on one that plays consistently in every player we have tried. It is manufactured by Taiyo Yuden. It is a bit more expensive for us (you can't buy them at the local store), but knowing it will work consistently is worth the extra cost on our end.

Can you transfer my 8mm or 16mm film?
We don't do film. Only video tape.
